Natural Disasters, Why Come?

January 29th, 2010

After events like the earthquake in Hatti, the floods in the Gulf Coast, and the 2004 Tsunami in the Indian Ocean people have many questions about why. The often wonder if God truly exist if such catsophic events occur. Then you always have a radical conservative that want to blame the sins of the people in those places and claim that they are receiving the wrath of God. Though I can’t explain why these events occur, I know that God does exist and is deeply concerned about the people he created.

I also know that we does truly view life & death the way God views life and death. But let me get to the point of this post. I was thinking what if the reason for these disasters has more to do with the sins of the people of God, especially American Christians. God calls use to be light in darkness, to take care and help those lesson fortonate that use. American Christians can sometime we to comfortable with our lives, we forget that there are people that doesn’t have anything. There a people that live on the street of America that live far better than a lot of people in third world countries. Could these diasters abroad be a reminder that there are people out there in need. Is it a call to the church to step up and be the hope of the world. Are the disasters on American soil an awaking that we are all in God’s hand and at anytime He can recalm what’s His. Not just our possession, but our lives as well.

I believe the church is the hope of the world, and we have to be more about meeting the needs of God’s people than building structures of brick and mortar, but providing people with a path to the truth, the source of life. I wanted to do my part in helping people recognize truth and not block them because of my dislike of their behavoir or their choices. The reality is that it does not matter about where people have done or where there are of this life’s journey; what matters is where God is trying to take them.

With that said, it really does not matter why disasters happen, what matters is how we respond to it. If God can trust you with a tradegy, he believes you can handle the responsibility associated with it. Let’s not waste these opportunity to show those that are hurting the love of the Creator.

Sheep in wolves clothing with zipper stuck

March 30th, 2009

Let me start by saying this is not a diss to my boys - “Sheep In Wolves Clothing”

Let me first explain the concepts. Sheep in wolves clothing is a term used in the gospel rap arena to refer to individuals that have experience the life change provided by a relationship with Jesus Christ that continue to dress in a similiar fashion as they did when they ran the streets. The purpose is to be able to be excepted and heard because you are not putting a barrior up. The dress and language is the same but the content is different. You still dress the part and talk the talk but it’s cleaner. The shirt is still over-sized and the pants still sanging, but the words you speak are giving praise to the Savior.

Then one might ask why do a say the zipper is stuck. I understand the purpose and the metaphor of the statement, but I also know the sheep has to spend sometime being a sheep or it loses it effectiveness. I believe there are some sheep out there in wolves clothing that have forgotten they are sheep. They are in too deep, their zipper is stuck; they need some help getting out of the wolves clothing and remember will they put the clothing on in the first place.

It’s similiar to an uncover cop to tries to influtrate a criminal organization at gets into the role to deep that they forget they are their to bust up the opperation, not make it stronger. Just as a cop has a supervisor they have to check in with to make sure they are on task, we have do to the same. We need to have a spiritual leader in our life to make sure we are not in too deep (Zipper Stuck).

You should be able to tell the difference between a sheep and a wolf by what they produce. What are the words coming out of their mouth? How do they treat people? I ask the people of faith to lift up the Sheep in Wolves Clothes. They are need and at some point in time we all will hit this mold if we are seeking to save thoses that are lost. We must also keep them accountable to the call, do what you can to support them in their walk and call them to account if you can speak into their listening. Most of all pray for them daily that the zipper does not get stuck and that they continue to spend time daily at the feet of the Shepard.

Emotional Connection Doesn’t Equal Physical Connection

March 27th, 2009

There is a growing trend in our society that has people believing that an emotional connection should lead to physical intimacy. I believe American’s are so starved of love and affection that we have collapsed two distinct terms. There is always going to be someone you vibe with, you click with, someone that you see eye to eye with on issues. There are also those people that for whatever reason you trust them and can just talk to and share your heart. But this does not mean you have to get physically intimate to take the relationship to the next level. I think that’s one of the problems as well. We are always trying to go somewhere or move to the next level or phase, why can’t we be satisfied with where we are and how things are going.

Our desire to elevate relationship can destroy us and the other person. What if you were truly meant to be just friends? But now that you tried to go further you ruined the friendship. I believe God created a special person for us all, and if we befriend everyone that came before us, for the soul purpose of being friendly and loving, and not trying to get anything, but genuinely showing others the love of God we would be happy. We would definitely be less broken. Because we give our hearts to people that can’t hold our hearts, give God your heart and He will guide you to that special someone, and He will use all the people in your life to help you and support you in this journey of life.

GOAT’s scripture is Romains 12:2, which says we must be renewed by the transformation of our mind. What does that mean? It means we have to think differently to make our life better. We can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. This message is different from popular opinion. Just look at all the dating game shows. One man or woman date a bunch of other people are a sexually involved in some form or fashion and the lucky winner gets the leftovers, then they wonder why it does not last. Love is not a feeling, but I’ll leave that for another blog.

I hope this made you think, if so holla at me and tell me your thoughts.

Million Dollar Mansion, Five Dollar Noose

March 11th, 2009

As times are greating worse in this country we are really going to start to see who the hurting people in this country are. I’ve been saying it for a long time, but I believe people are now going to realie the truth. Rich people are still looking, search, and seek hope and peace. As followers are Christ we can not just look to the streets and the gutters to help those that are lost. Just because people have a smile on their face and money in their pocket does not mean they are ok.

In my few years on this earth I believe the rich are some of the most hurt people. They have people surrounding them that are trying to take advantage of them or trying to use them for selfish gain. They need to be able to experience true love, unconditional love. They do not find this is relationship, because most sign a prenuptial agreement, which mean they already plan for the relationship to end so they are protecting their assest for the inevitable future.

Jesus found himself with the rich and the poor, and when he was in their presence their life was forever changed. We don’t need to suck up to wealthy people, we just need to love on them. Love them enough to tell them the truth when no one else will. Cry with them when they are hurting and don’t know how to maintain. But this one thing I know, I’m trying to seeing wealth people committing suicide because they feel their is not hope for them. This means they didn’t get the memo that the Ruler of ALL things is alive and real and ready to work in their life.

No more nooses, no more over doses, no more sucide. Today I’m here to say their is an answer to all your problems. Before you try the above, try my JESUS. He lived, He died, He rose again for YOU. I love you all.

This Life Is Not For Show

February 16th, 2009

I know it’s been a minute since you seen my pen to the pad, therre are a lot of things going on in the GOAT world. Be looking forward to some awesome things. But life is real, there have been a lot of ups and down in the first 45 days of this year.

Your boy is dealing with the hard hits of life right now. I realize just because I proclaim Jesus as my Lord & Savior doesn’t mean my life gets easier. The real deal is that it gets harder. The only difference is that I now don’t walk alone. Not only is the Creator of the universe guiding me through these tough times, He has also placed people in my life to help me through this journey.

That’s why I say this life is not for show. It’s not pretty and sitting on a pedistal. It’s in the gutter getting grimmy, fighting to breakthrough to the brighter side. Everyone need to find people them can confide in, someone that can mentor them and provide them words of wisdom. We need people in our life that will encourage us. Life gets real and we need people in our life that will keep it real with us and not sugarcoat it.

I said 2009 would be the year of the grind, and that’s exaclt what I plan to do, we are going to grind it out. Through the struggle we grow stronger, so I’m looking forward to the walls we are about to breakthrough. GOAT is on the move, be on the look out for the great things to come.

Out with 2008, In with 2009

January 1st, 2009

GOAT Entertainment brought in 2008 with the desire to change the game. Our goal was to redefine how things are done in the industry. So much so we decided we were going to be P.I.M.P.’n (Positive Inspiration Motivating People) in 2008. Yes, that is how bold we were, we were even redefining words. With the start of a new company brings a lot of first. We started GOATradio.com that has over 1600 songs and 200 artist. We are now in the process of starting GOATtv.com where you will be able to see your favorite artist do their thing. We also hooked up with a local Houston radio station, 90.1 KPFT, and host a weekly radio show from 11pm - 12am every Wednesday. This year we plan on hitting the streets and attending award shows across the nation. We are in the process of working on the next version of GOATradio.com. We will be putting on some of the hottest GOAT events and start a non-profit organization. Stay tuned to what GOAT has in store.

Anyways, that’s enough about GOAT what are you going to do with 2008 & 2009. A lot of times we like to hold on to the past and we never embrace the future. For some 2008 was a bad year, from the financial termoil to the rise in gas prices. For others it was a great year, because for the first time in America’s history a black man has been elected to the highest office of the land; Barak Obama is the President of the United States of America. But here is the deal; for me 2008 was a blast, I had a lot of first and I truly realized how fortunate I am to live in this great country. I’m going to take the mistake of my past and learn from them, I’m going to celebrate my accomplishments and keep moving. Each day that I’m awakened to see the sun arise I’m going to do my best to live to the fullest.

For me 2009 is the year to grind. We have to be on our game. The paper money called stocks are all over the place, but now it’s time to get real and get to work. All we have to do is the best with what we have and let God take care of the rest. This is not by world, I’m not responsible for the entire thing, I’m just responsible for the ground I stand on and the people and things that have been placed under my supervision. My advice to you is stop trying to rule the world and just enjoy what you have and what placed in your hands.

Let’s dream big in 2009, let’s go for what we know. The worst thing is to have the ability and lack the desire. If God gave you the gift then use it, but don’t abuse the gift. So let’s stay true and do all we can to make a good life for our family. I also ask one thing, as you our grinding this year and making yours don’t forget about those that are less fortunate. Give back, someone somewhere needs your help, because we all have received help along the way.

Home

December 28th, 2008

A few weeks ago it would have never crossed my mind that the saying “Going home for the holidays” could be a hurtful saying for some. I never went off to college so to speak, I moved to the other side of the city and attended a local university, so going home for the holidays was foriegn to me but a few of my friends always looked forward to going home over the long Christmas break. I also looked forward to my friends that did go off to college to come home so we could catch up.

But a few weeks ago one of my daughters friends was kicked out of her house, and she has come to stay with us. Now I’m staying to understand this word call “Home” is relative. That place that we all consider a safe warm place called home is not the same for everyone. Some people have bad memorizes of home and never want to go back to that place, so saying “Going home for the holidays” is not quite appealing to them. It brings back all the hurt and pain that they left when they turn their back on that place or it turned their back on them.

As I was sadden by this realization I was reminded of another homeless man that still went on to accomplish great things.  Jesus left the comforts of heaven to come to earth to save the world, but he didn’t receive a warm welcome for the task He came to accomplish. He also at one point had a home with his mother Mary and father Joseph, but He to left that home for the opportunity to reach out to people that truly needed him. There is a part of the Bible that says, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

You might be wondering what’s my point. I say this because if we are truly going to live like Jesus lived, then we have to learn to love people where they are and how do we do that if we don’t consider where they are. We so often assume that everyone grew up like we did or came from a similiar background. Just because we have something in common doesn’t mean we have everything in common. It’s those uncommon things that makes the relationship sweet. But often before those differences can make the relationship sweet they bring bitterness in the form of conflict and its through the conflict that intamcy is formed.

So lets make room for the people in our lives so they can fill at home with us. Lets love like Jesus love and change the world for the better.

Christmas

December 28th, 2008

Christmas is almost here and going anywhere near the mall is crazy. There is traffic and people trying their best to get something for their love ones for Christmas. I don’t what it’s like where you live, but it does not look like we are in a financial crisis around here. But I do continue to hear stories of families that are liking this Christmas season. The cool thing is that I see people in the body of Christ stepping up and meeting the needs of people.

I feel that this Christmas people can truly find Christ in the crisis. In the mist of whatever is going on, it’s my pray that the body of Christ mobilize to meet the ends. That we do not get wrapped up in making sure there is another gift to wrap, but that we began to unwrap the true gift of Christmas so all can see that the savior of the world is alive and real.

God uses ordinary people to do extrodinary things, but we have to be willing to allow him to use you. It’s time for little boys/girls to sit down  and for men/women to step up. It does not matter what’s under the tree, what matters is who is in your heart. Are we going to spend every dime we have buying stuff, or are we going to use some of the moeny God has blessed us with, or should I say entrusted us with, to show someone less fortunate that God is listening and cares about them. We are the hands and feet of Jesus and I believe this Christmas can be a time when great numbers can come to know Christ if we make room in the inn.

I love each and everyone of you. It’s been a pleasure being able to share my thoughts and insights with you all. I pray that God blesses each of you in a special and powerful way. I pray that 2009 in the year of increase, I pray that increases your area of influence and that God uses you to touch the world around you. We are also planning on having more writes added to the team. Be looking out for GOAT Speaks in 2009.

Thanksgiving

November 25th, 2008

It’s that time of year where people get together to celebrate what they are thankful forn atleast that’s what the holiday is suppose to be about, but in reality we are just going to get together and eat a bunch of food and watch football or go to the movies.

Are we thankful for anything? And if we are then why don’t we act like it. Living in America is awesome, but it seems like we have become a bunch of spoiled brats. We want to pay people to do the things we don’t want to do, and since we pay them we don’t feel greatful. When is the last time you appreciate the person at the drive thru window, or where truly thanksful. The ride home with screaming kids would be miserable if there was no place to stop and get french fries. We pay our minister to be the Christians we don’t have time to be, but when was the last time you thanked him for spending time in the word so you can get feed on Sundays.

God has been more than good to us. We don’t even have to worry about our freedom. There are men and women dying daily for us to live the lives we live. There is a quote from a movie that says, ‘You want the truth, you can’t handle the truth.’ That’s real, if we real knew what it took for us to maintain our freedom we would be praising God all day long.

Also, my friend reminded me last week that the bible says we should praise God for all things. He was mad about his current situation and was mad at God, but he began to thank God in the mist of his troubles he felt better. It’s the ultimate surrender of control, when you realize that the root of my existance is Gid and if I’m going through whatever God is there and I’m glad the creator of the universe is with me. As long as God is enough for you, then you can be thankful for anything.

I know everything that happens to you isn’t good, but God can us every situtation for His glory. If a few days or month or years of pain in my life can lead someone to the knowledge and grace of Jesus then so be it. I’m thankful that God is using me. If hope these blogs are starting conversations , invoking deep thought, and/or changing the way you view life.

So this thursday don’t just get full on food and watch TV, spend sometime with you’re loved ones and let them know what you are thankful for, let them know what they mean to you.

From the Heart

November 16th, 2008

Have you ever had one of those nights where you just can’t sleep? Well that was me last night. After talking with daughter about a friend’s betrayal I was left sleepless. I felt deep sorrow for my daughter, but I was even more in angst over her friend’s actions.

Not to get into get detail, but the young lady was involved in a multiple partner encounter. This is a nice girl; she is smart, pretty and lives at home with mom and dad in a gated community. With all the sex on the radio and TV I see how young people get themselves all twisted. But for this young girl to find herself in this situation is disturbing.

It hurts my heart. It truly reminds me that we Christians have to be on our job in this sick world. The have to start being more vocal with the truth. It’s time to let the world know what we are for and not just what we are against. God came that we might have life and live it to the fullest. We have to stop hating sinners, because we all have sinned and are going to continue to sin. The goal is to limit the occurrence of sin in our life and spread the love of Christ to those around us.

Play time is over; the game is in full effect. Daily young people are going astray because we give them nothing to live for. We don’t challenge them in their walk with Christ, we don’t give them opportunities to live out their faith, and too often we rescue them and don’t give them the opportunity to give God move in their life. As parent friends, or whatever we remove the struggle and difficulty, but it’s that difficult that moves you to the feet of Jesus. We also hide our difficulty and act like everything is ok, instead of being vulnerable and real and letting people see God move us through the difficult situation.

The occurrence last week weighs heavy on my heart and I just wanted to spend some time with you all to remind you that we battle is in full effect, we have to gear up and get in the game because their our lives at stake.

Be Blessed,

New Age Prophet
